Made from strong, soft, transparent polyurethane, which is inserted into the vagina before sexual intercourse, the female condom protects against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. It is stronger than the latex condom, odourless and does not cause an allergic reaction. It can be inserted hours before sexual intercourse, does not depend on the male erection and does not need to be removed immediately after ejaculation.

Collective term for various traditional practices which are all related to the mutilation of the female genital organs. Four different forms and grades of FGM are usually distinguished. FGM is a severe violation of human rights and burdened with severe health and mental dangers. FGM is still practised in at least 28 countries and affects around 130 million women and girls worldwide.
