| sutura frontalis | The suture between the two halves of the frontal bone, usually obliterated by about the sixth year; if persistent it is called a metropic suture. Synonym: sutura frontalis. (05 Mar 2000) |

| incisura frontalis | A small notch, sometimes a foramen, on the orbital margin of the frontal bone medial to the supraorbital notch. Synonym: incisura frontalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| torus frontalis | A slight prominence on the frontal bone at the root of the nose. (05 Mar 2000) |
| eminentia frontalis | An alternate term for frontal eminence, frontal eminence. (05 Mar 2000) |
| frontalis | Synonym: frontal. Origin: L. (05 Mar 2000) |
| frontalis muscle | <anatomy> The anterior belly of the occipitofrontalis muscle. See: occipitofrontalis muscle. Synonym: venter frontalis musculi occipitofrontalis, frontalis muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lobus frontalis cerebri | The portion of each cerebral hemisphere anterior to the central sulcus. Synonym: lobus frontalis cerebri, frontal lobe. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala major ossis sphenoidalis | Strong squamous processes extending in a broad superolateral curve from the body of the sphenoid bone. The greater wing presents these suraces (facies): 1) cerebral surface: forms anterior third of the floor of the lateral portions of the middle cranial fossa; 2) temporal surface: forms the deepest portion of the temporal fossa; 3) infratemporal surface, forms the "roof" of the infratemporal fossa; 4) orbital surface: forms posterolateral wall of orbit. The greater wing forms the inferior border of the supraorbital fissure, and is perforated at its root by foramina rotundum ovale, and spinosum and the pterygoid canal. Synonym: ala major ossis sphenoidalis, ala temporalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala minor ossis sphenoidalis | One of a bilateral pair of triangular, pointed plates extending laterally from the anterolateral body of the sphenoid bone. Forming the posteriormost portion of the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, their sharp posterior edge forms the sphenoidal ridge separating anterior and middle cranial fossae. The medial end of the lesser wing attaches to the body by means of two pedicles, thus forming the optic canal. The wing itself forms the superior margin of the supraorbital fissure. Synonym: ala minor ossis sphenoidalis, ala orbitalis, Ingrassia's apophysis, Ingrassia's wing. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala ossis ilii | The upper flaring portion of the ilium. Synonym: ala ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus mastoideus ossis parietalis | The posteroinferior point of the parietal bone. Synonym: angulus mastoideus ossis parietalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus occipitalis ossis parietalis | An angle formed by the junction, at the opisthion, of lines coming from the basion and from the projection in the median plane of the lower border of the orbits. See: Daubenton's line, Daubenton's plane. Synonym: angulus occipitalis ossis parietalis, occipital angle of parietal bone. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus sphenoidalis ossis parietalis | The anterior inferior angle of the parietal bone. Synonym: angulus sphenoidalis ossis parietalis, sphenoid angle, sphenoidal angle, Welcker's angle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| apex ossis sacri | The tapering lower end of the sacrum that articulates with the coccyx. Synonym: apex ossis sacri. (05 Mar 2000) |
| apex partis petrosae ossis temporalis | The irregular antero-medial extremity of the petrous part on which the anterior end of the carotid canal opens. Synonym: apex partis petrosae ossis temporalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
