Corticosteroids are medications with strong anti-inflammatory properties. They are effective at relieving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Long-term use in children is not recommended because of the potential for side effects. They are usually taken using nasal sprays (topically), but may be given in tablets or by injection (systemically) in more severe cases.
