connective tissue c.’s a general name for the cellular elements of the fibrous and nonfibrous components of the various forms of connective tissue.

connective tissue n. any of a group of variable-appearing hamartomas involving various components of the connective tissue, usually present at or soon after birth; they may be inherited or acquired and may be associated with other diseases. They may present clinically as single or multiple nodules, papules, plaques, or a combination of these lesions, the most common appearance being a plaque of firm, flat or cobblestoned, closely set, white to yellow-brown papules. Called also juvenile elastoma, n. elasticus, and n. elasticus of Lewandowsky.
