| limb-girdle muscular dystrophy | One of the less well-defined types of muscular dystrophy, probably heterogenous in nature. Onset usually in childhood or early adulthood and both sexes affected. Muscle pseudohypertrophy, heart involvement, and mental retardation are absent. Variable inheritance.
