a large, irregularly shaped, pale anaplastic tumor cell with vacuolated cytoplasm and a vesicular nucleus that is usually hyperchromatic and surrounded by a clear zone; cells occur singly or in small clusters in the epidermis in Paget's disease of the breast and extramammary Paget's disease.

1. intraductal carcinoma of the breast extending to involve the nipple and areola, characterized clinically by eczema-like inflammatory skin changes, and histologically by infiltration of the epidermis by malignant cells (Paget's cells). 2. a neoplasm of the vulva and sometimes the perianal region histologically and clinically quite similar to Paget's disease of the breast, but having less of a tendency to be associated with underlying invasive carcinoma. Called also extramammary or vulvar Paget's d. 3. osteitis deformans.
