| anastrozole |
A third-generation nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor, anastrozole prevents the conversion of androgen to estrogen in the peripheral tissues in postmenopausal women. Because hormone-dependent breast cancer progresses with estrogen, anastrozole has been used in the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. (See Aromatase inhibitors)
