| spatial resolution |
Used in remote sensing to describe the smallest visible ground unit discernible on an image. For example, imagery from the Landsat TM satellite has a spatial resolution of 30m, which means that each pixel in the image has a ground size of 30m x 30m. This means that an object smaller than 30m across will not be visible as an individual object on that image.
