The display of erroneous signals from acoustic or electrical sources that conflict with the display of the primary side scan sonar data. Interference can be internal to the sonar system, but are most commonly from other sources. Causes of external interference include generator noise, electromagnetic radiation from other electronics, ship's engines and propellers, flow noise and biological sources.
