induced vomiting The production of vomiting by administering certain types of emetics (e.g., syrup of ipecac or amorphine) or by physical stimulation of the posterior pharynx.

induced A mutation discovered among the descendants of a mouse whose germ cells, exposed to a physical or chemical agent, contributed to the conceptus that presumably carried (though did not necessarily exhibit) the mutation. (There is a very small, but finite, chance that the mutation could have occurred independent of the mutagen exposure, ie, be of spontaneous origin.)
