The process of producing electrical energy from other forms of energy, also the amount of electric energy produced, usually expressed in kilowatt-hours (kWh) or megawatt-hours (MWh). Gross generation is the electrical output at the terminals of the generator, usually expressed in megawatts (MW). Net generation is gross generation minus the service power requirements of the generating station itself.
