1. pneumonia due to embolism of a blood vessel or vessels of the lungs. 2. in cattle, pneumonia that sometimes follows caudal vena caval thrombosis (q.v.); it often involves abscesses with suppurative pneumonia and aneurysms that may rupture, causing pulmonary hemorrhage that can be either minor, or massive and fatal.
