The linear, double stranded structural unit of genetic material consisting of DNA and supporting proteins called chromatin. Human cells are expected to contain 46 chromosomes identified as 23 pairs; 22 pairs are autosomes and one pair are the sex chromosomes. Contracture: Muscle shortening resulting in loss of motion of the joint.
