an autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by the development in early life of numerous basal cell carcinomas, occurring in association with abnormalities of the skin (especially an unusual erythematous pitting edema of the hands and feet), bone, nervous system, eyes, and reproductive tract. Called also Gorlin's s., Gorlin-Goltz s., nevoid basal cell carcinoma s., and nevoid basalioma s.
