| angioid streaks | Tiny breaks in the elastin-filled tissue in the back of the eye (retinae). These abnormalities are visible to the doctor during an examination using a viewing instrument called an ophthalmoscope. Angioid streaks are seen in patients with pseudoxanthoma elasticum (abbreviated PXE), a rare disorder of degeneration of the elastic fibres with tiny areas of calcification in the skin, back of the eyes (retinae), and blood vessels. | angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy with dysproteinaemia | A lymphoproliferative disorder characterised by generalised lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, fever, sweats, weight loss, skin lesions, and pruritus with hypergammaglobulinaemia; occurs primarily in older adults, often with fatal outcome. | angiokeratoma | A discrete, pink to red telangiectasia having a tendency to undergo secondary epithelial changes, including acanthosis and hyperkeratosis. The term angiokeratoma is applied to a number of quite distinct conditions which share a common clinical presentation with asymptomatic hyperkeratotic vascular skin lesions and a histological combination of superficial dermal vascular ectasia.
