a form caused by deposition of large amounts of coal dust in the lungs, and typically characterized by centrilobular emphysema. Different varieties of coal have different risks; those with certain types of contaminants may cause other types of pneumoconiosis. See also anthracosis and bituminosis. Called also black, coal miner's, or miner's lung.
