Any device that changes mechanical or acoustic energy into an electrical signal or vice versa. (ie a pickup converts kinetic motion into an electrical signal, a speaker converts an electrical signal into kinetic motion). Mics, pickups, and loudspeakers are all transducers. The term transducer is often used with accelerometer style piezo pickups, but is not exclusive to such pickups.
