| plot |
The specific pieces of the story chosen to tell the protagonist's story to the film-going audience. The main plot of a film presents the set-up, progression, and resolution of the conflict between the protagonist and the antagonist. The subplot is something different entirely. To see the plot of Pulp Fiction, for example, you have to line up the sequence of events for each of the three main characters as they happen in time, not as they happen during the film.
