A period of time, at least 2 to 4 weeks, whereby a Bandster maintains (instead of losing) weight. It is common for post-op patients who are 4-10 weeks out to experience a plateau before getting their first fill. Many Bandsters take a plateau at any point as a sign that they need to get another fill.

In males, the excitation phase is a combination of the arousal phase and excitation phase and directly leads to orgasm. In females, the excitation phase is very prolonged, and multiple orgasms are possible without returning to the flaccid (unaroused) state as in the male. This is called a woman's excitation plateau.

Any comparatively flat area of great extent and elevation; specif. an extensive land region elevated (more than 150-300m) above the adjacent country; it is commonly limited on at least one side by an abrupt descent, has a flat or nearly smooth surface but is often dissected by deep valleys and surmounted by high hills or mountains, and has a large part of its total surface at or near the summit level. A plateau is usually higher and has more noticeable relief than a plain.
