| noise |
Interference (static) that destroys the integrity of signals on a line. Noise can come from a variety of sources, including radio waves, nearby electrical wires, lightning, and bad connections. One of the major advantages of fiber optic cables over metal cables is that they are much less susceptible to noise.

| noise |
1. An undesired disturbance with the frequency band of interest; the summation of unwanted or disturbing energy introduced into a communication system form man-made and natural sources. 2. A disturbance that affects a signal and that may distort the information carried by the signal. 3. Random variations of one or more characteristics of any entity such as voltage, current or data. 4. A random signal of known statistical properties of amplitude, distribution and spectral density. 5. ...

Any unwanted signal, such as in audio and video that adversely affects the quality of the picture or sound. NTSC Video A video output format of some video tape and disc players with 525 lines resolution. Two common types of NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) video are NTSC 3.58 and NTSC 4.43. NTSC 3.58 is used primarily in North America and Japan. NTSC 4.43 is less commonly used.
