| natural selection |
Differential reproduction within a population that is correlated with the genotypes of individuals and that is the result of the differential fitness of the genotypes. | natural selection |

The two classic things which natural selection pushes for are being able to survive longer (and thus having more time to reproduce), and being able to reproduce faster.
