A rounded body consisting of an accumulating of lymphatic tissue found at intervals in the course of lymphatic vessels. Lymph nodes vary in size from a pinhead to an olive and can occur singularly or in groups. They produce lymphocytes and monocytes, and serve to filter matter from entering the bloodstream.
