Concentration of protection fibers within the depths of each cerebral hemisphere between the thalamus, caudate and lenticular nuclei. It consists of an anterior limb, genu, and posterior (lenticulothalamic) limb. The corticipit al and corticofugal fibers contained within this confined region are on their way to and from widespread areas of the cerebral cortex.
