| heat apoplexy | A severe and often fatal illness produced by exposure to excessively high temperatures, especially when accompanied by marked exertion. It can manifest by elevated body temperature, lack of sweating, hot dry skin, and neurologic symptoms; unconsciousness, paralysis, headache, vertigo, confusion.
