| expert system |
Typically a set of rules or a decision tree which aids an individual to make good decisions in an area where that individual is not an expert. Usually, subject matter experts are interviewed by the software developers to determine the steps the expert would use to make a particular decision. Sometimes experts are followed by note-taking observers as the experts go about formulating decisions. This often reveals that the expert was not aware of all the steps and questions used.
