| encephalopathy |
A non-specific term which means "disease of the brain". There are different types of encephalopathy; all of which can be detected (and sometimes differentiated) through the use of EEG. Despite the nature of the name, however, the term is not used to refer to some specific disease processes, such as epilepsy.
