A type of earth made up of the fossil deposits of siliceous skeletons of diatoms. This earth has an irritating surface (glass-like and sharp) and can be used to clean carpets and rid them of fleas and mites. Absorbs oil and water and is used in abrasive agents, cleansers for the face or for environmental uses. Very cheap. Irritating if inhaled.
