testosterone 17β-dehydrogenase (NADP+) [EC 1.1.1.64] a microsomal enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the reduction of Δ4-androstenedione to testosterone using NADPH as an electron donor; it also catalyzes the conversion of estrone to estradiol. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, is called 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency. Called also 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17-ketosteroid reductase.
