topotecan <drug, oncology> This alkaloid chemotherapy drug is a derivative of the drug camptothecin, which was originally isolated from a Chinese tree, Camptotheca acuminata but has also been found in the nothapodytes tree (Nothapodytes foetida).Topotecan is a DNA topoisomerase I inhibitor and is used to treat advanced ovarian cancer.
