| septate uterus |
a uterus with a band of tissue coming down the middle. The septum may be very minor and paper thin, causing no problem to a pregnancy, or may be very thick and unmovable, adding to your risk of miscarriage and premature labor. An HSG test is used to diagnose this condition, which is usually treated with surgery if necessary. (Deanna herself has this condition and has had the HSG and the surgery.)
