| Crohn's d. |
a chronic granulomatous inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, involving any part of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, but commonly involving the terminal ileum with scarring and thickening of the bowel wall; it frequently leads to intestinal obstruction and fistula and abscess formation and has a high rate of recurrence after treatment. Called also Crohn's colitis and regional or segmental enteritis. When confined to the ileum it is also called regional or terminal ileitis.
