| 설명 | 인간면역결핍바이러스(HIV)에 의하여 면역 세포가 파괴됨으로써 인체의 면역능력이 극도로 저하되어 병원체에 대하여 무방비 상태에 이르는 병. 에이즈 바이러스의 감염으로 생기며, 1981년 미국에서 처음 보고되었다. 최초 감염으로부터 증상이 나타나기까지는 평균 10년 정도 걸리며 사망률이 대단히 높다. 성적 접촉, 오염 주사기 사용, 오염 혈액 및 혈액 제제 사용, 에이즈 산모로부터 수직감염 따위에 의하여 감염된다. 감염 후 일과성으로 감기와 같은 증상을 보이며 바이러스혈증으로 되지만 바이러스는 감소되고 6~8주 후에는 항체가 양성으로 된다. 6~10년 정도의 무증후성 보균기간을 지나서 에이즈관련증후군(AIDS related syndrome)으로 된다. 저항력의 감소, 림프절비대, 체중감소, 발열, 만성설사가 이어진다. 그 후 에이즈로 되며, 폐포자충폐렴 등의 원충병, 칸디다 등의 진균증, 헤르페스바이러스군 등의 기회감염이 이어진다. 또한 카포시육종, 림프종 등을 병발해서 사망한다. 바이러스의 뇌조직내 증식으로 치매를 일으킬 수도 있다. HIV-1은 10년간에 사망률이 90%, HIV-2는 10%이다. |

| 설명 | 고혈압에 의해서 생기는 심장병. 고혈압심장병이라는 진단을 붙이기 위해서는 최소한 다음과 같은 조건이 부합되어야 하는데, 첫째 심장혈관계에 심장병을 유발할 수 있을 만한 다른 병변이 없이 좌심실 비대가 있어야 하며, 둘째 고혈압을 앓았다는 병력이 있어야 한다. 주로 고혈압에 의한 심장병은 초기에는 좌심실이 비후라는 것으로 특징되어진다. 즉 혈압이 높으므로 혈액을 순환시키기 위해서는 그만큼 심장의 혈액을 보내는 힘이 좋아야 한다. 그 힘을 얻기위해서는 심근의 비후가 필요로 하여 좌심실 근육의 비후가 생긴다. 그리고 고혈압이 지속이 될 경우에는 결국 심장이 제 구실을 하지 못하고 펌프로서의 기능을 잃어버리게 되어 심장기능상실에 빠지게 된다. |

| 설명 | 골반주위의 장기에 발생하는 염증을 말함. 주로 여성에서 발생하며 원인은 임균(gonococcus)과 비임균에 의한 감염(non-gonorrheal infection)에 의한다. 증상은 초기에는 질분비물, 하복부동통, 여성의 생식기부위에 발생하는 압통, 월경통, 월경량의 증가 등이다. 일찍 치료해야 하며, 계속적으로 병이 지속시 여성의 불임의 원인이 된다. 후진국에서는 가장 많은 여성불임의 원인이기도 함. 치료는 항생제의 투여이다. |

| bartter's disease | Hypertrophy and hyperplasia of the juxtaglomerular cells, producing hypokalaemic alkalosis and hyperaldosteronism, characterised by absence of hypertension in the presence of markedly increased plasma renin concentrations, and by insensitivity to the pressor effects of angiotensin. It usually affects children, is perhaps hereditary, and may be associated with other anomalies, such as mental retardation and short stature. It is also called juxtaglomerular cell aplasia. | Bazin's disease | A type of panniculitis characterised histologically by the presence of granulomas, vasculitis, and necrosis. It is seen most commonly in adolescent and menopausal women, is initiated or exacerbated by cold weather, and typically presents as one or more recurrent erythrocyanotic nodules or plaques on the calves. | Berger's disease | <disease, nephrology> This is a form of glomerulonephritis that results from the deposition of circulating IgA antibody in the kidney tissues. Inflammation of the glomerulus (glomerulonephritis) is the result and may present as acute glomerulonephritis, chronic glomerulonephritis or rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. Berger's disease is usually detected in an individual with one or two bouts of haematuria (usually begins during or soon after a respiratory infection) and no other symptoms of renal disease.
