an infectious disease of birds, including chickens, caused by Salmonella enteritidis serotype pullorum and marked by loss of appetite, dullness, diarrhea that leaves white lumps around the cloaca, reduced egg yield, and infertility of eggs. It is sometimes fatal, with moribund and dead birds found at hatching time. Called also white diarrhea.
