[EC 5.3.99.4] an enzyme of the isomerase class that catalyzes the conversion of the prostaglandin intermediate prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to prostacyclin (PGI2). The enzyme acts predominantly in the endothelium of blood vessel walls. See also illustration at prostaglandin. Called also prostacyclin synthase.
