an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by brachygnathia and cleft palate, often associated with glossoptosis, backward and upward displacement of the larynx, and angulation of the manubrium sterni; cleft palate makes sucking and swallowing difficult, permitting easy access of fluids into the larynx.
