The art of putting something decorative into something solid, inlay could potentially be made of a variety of materials including glass, wax, mother of pearl, metal, ivory, wood veneer and hot sulfur. The art of inlay dates back to the pharaohs, although it continues to go in and out of fashion. It was particularly popular during the Art Deco period.
