baptizw. The Greek word "baptidzo" means immerse. Translators have not had the fortitude to translate it, so they transliterated it - baptize. Immersion is a Jewish ritual of cleansing. The Mikvah (the immersion tank) was created by digging a pit. Archaeologists have discovered Mikvaot (plural of Mikvah) all over Israel.
