heterozygous Having such a mixture of heritable factors in a plant's chromosomes that they show great variation of type when grown from a seed. One very good reason we do most of our plants from cuttings.

heterozygous Possessing two different alleles at a given genetic locus across the two sets of homologous chromosomes.

heterozygous having different alleles at the same locus on a chromosome; a recessive and a dominant are paired (so the dominant trait is observed).
