A census is a statistical collection where data are collected about everyone or everything in a group with some identifiable characteristic or in a particular location. In Australia, the ABS conducts the Australian Census of Population and Housing which collects information about each person and dwelling in Australia and its territories on a single night. The 2001 Census was conducted on 7th August 2001 and was the 14th national census in Australia.
