| sinuatrial node | <anatomy, cardiology, physiology> The impulse generating (pacemaker) tissue located in the right atrium, under the epicardium at the upper end of the sulcus terminalis. The specialised cardiac muscle fibres generate cardiac impulses that normally acts as the pacemaker of the cardiac conduction system. Normal impulses start in the sinoatrial node and are transmitted to the ventricles, through the atrioventricular node and into the bundle of His. Synonym: nodus sinuatrialis, atrionector, Flack's node, Keith and Flack node, Keith's node, Koch's node, sinoatrial node, sinus node. (20 Jun 2000) |

| sinus node | sinoatrial node |
| sinus node artery | <anatomy, artery> A branch usually of the right coronary artery that supplies the sinuatrial node. Synonym: sinus node artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nasolabial lymph node | One of the facial lymph nodes located near the junction of the superior labial and facial arteries. Synonym: nodus nasolabialis, nasolabial node. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nasolabial node | One of the facial lymph nodes located near the junction of the superior labial and facial arteries. Synonym: nodus nasolabialis, nasolabial node. (05 Mar 2000) |
| subdigastric node | A prominent lymph node in the deep lateral cervical group lying below the digastric muscle and anterior to the internal jugular vein; it receives lymphatic drainage from the pharynx, palatine tonsil, and tongue. Synonym: nodus jugulodigastricus, jugulodigastric node, subdigastric node. (05 Mar 2000) |
| node | A point in a plant stem at which one or more leaves are attached. (18 Nov 1997) |
| node, av | Atrioventricular node. Specialised heart tissue which acts as an electrical relay station between the upper chambers of the heart (atria) and the lower chambers of the heart (ventricles). Electrical signals from the sinoatrial (sa) node and the atria must pass through the av node to reach the ventricles. (12 Dec 1998) |
| node of Aschoff and Tawara | <cardiology> The location in the heart's conduction system, between the atria and the ventricles, which conducts the normal electrical impulse from the atria to the ventricles. (27 Sep 1997) |
| node of Cloquet | One of the deep inguinal lymph node's located in or adjacent to the femoral canal; sometimes mistaken for a femoral hernia when enlarged. Synonym: Rosenmuller's gland, Rosenmuller's node. (05 Mar 2000) |
| node of ligamentum arteriosum | A lymph node of the anterior mediastinal group located adjacent to the ligamentum arteriosum. Synonym: nodus ligamenti arteriosi, lymph node of ligamentum arteriosum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| node of Ranvier | <anatomy, physiology> A region of exposed neuronal plasma membrane in a myelinated axon. Nodes contain very high concentrations of voltage gated ion channels and are the site of propagation of action potentials by saltatory conduction. (18 Nov 1997) |
| node of Rouviere | One of the lateral group of retropharyngeal lymph nodes. See: retropharyngeal lymph nodes. (05 Mar 2000) |
| node, sa | Sinoatrial node. The pacemaker of the heart, located in the right atrium (upper chamber of the heart). The electrical signals initiated in the sa node are transmitted throuhg the atria and the ventricles to stimulate heart muscle contractions (heartbeats). (12 Dec 1998) |
| subpyloric node | A group of lymph nodes located below the pylorus. Synonym: nodi subpylorici, subpyloric node. (05 Mar 2000) |
