| articulatio sternoclavicularis | The synovial articulation between the medial end of the clavicle and the manubrium of the sternum and cartilage of the first rib; an articular disk subdivides the joint into two cavities. Synonym: articulatio sternoclavicularis. (05 Mar 2000) |

| articulatio subtalaris | Formed by the articulation of the talus with the calcaneus. (12 Dec 1998) |
| articulatio synovialis | A joint in which the opposing bony surfaces are covered with a layer of hyaline cartilage or fibrocartilage, there is a joint cavity containing synovial fluid, lined with synovial membrane and reinforced by a fibrous capsule and ligaments, and there is some degree of free movement possible. Synonym: articulatio synovialis, diarthrodial joint, diarthrosis, junctura synovialis, movable joint, perarticulation. (05 Mar 2000) |
| articulatio talocalcaneonavicularis | A ball-and-socket synovial joint, part of which participates in the transverse tarsal joint, formed by the head of the talus articulating with the navicular bone and the anterior part of the calcaneus. Synonym: articulatio talocalcaneonavicularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| articulatio talocruralis | The joint that is formed by the inferior articular and malleolar articular surfaces of the tibia, the malleolar articular surface of the fibula, and the medial malleolar, lateral malleolar, and superior surfaces of the talus. (12 Dec 1998) |
| articulatio tarsi transversa | The synovial joints between the talus and navicular bone medially and the calcaneus and navicular bones laterally which act as a unit in allowing the front of the foot to pivot relative to the back of the foot about the longitudinal axis of the foot, contributing to the total inversion and eversion movements. Synonym: articulatio tarsi transversa, Chopart's joint, midtarsal joint, transverse tarsal articulation. (05 Mar 2000) |
| articulatio temporomandibularis | <anatomy, dentistry> The joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull. (12 Jan 1998) |
| articulatio tibiofibularis | The plane synovial joint between the lateral condyle of the tibia and the head of the fibula. Synonym: articulatio tibiofibularis, superior tibial articulation, superior tibiofibular joint, tibiofibular articulation. (05 Mar 2000) |
| articulatio trochoidea | A synovial joint in which a section of a cylinder of one bone fits into a corresponding cavity on the other, as in the proximal radioulnar joint. Synonym: articulatio trochoidea, helicoid ginglymus, lateral ginglymus, rotary joint, rotatory joint, trochoid articulation, trochoid joint. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala major ossis sphenoidalis | Strong squamous processes extending in a broad superolateral curve from the body of the sphenoid bone. The greater wing presents these suraces (facies): 1) cerebral surface: forms anterior third of the floor of the lateral portions of the middle cranial fossa; 2) temporal surface: forms the deepest portion of the temporal fossa; 3) infratemporal surface, forms the "roof" of the infratemporal fossa; 4) orbital surface: forms posterolateral wall of orbit. The greater wing forms the inferior border of the supraorbital fissure, and is perforated at its root by foramina rotundum ovale, and spinosum and the pterygoid canal. Synonym: ala major ossis sphenoidalis, ala temporalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala minor ossis sphenoidalis | One of a bilateral pair of triangular, pointed plates extending laterally from the anterolateral body of the sphenoid bone. Forming the posteriormost portion of the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, their sharp posterior edge forms the sphenoidal ridge separating anterior and middle cranial fossae. The medial end of the lesser wing attaches to the body by means of two pedicles, thus forming the optic canal. The wing itself forms the superior margin of the supraorbital fissure. Synonym: ala minor ossis sphenoidalis, ala orbitalis, Ingrassia's apophysis, Ingrassia's wing. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala ossis ilii | The upper flaring portion of the ilium. Synonym: ala ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus frontalis ossis parietalis | The anterior superior angle of the parietal bone. Synonym: angulus frontalis ossis parietalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus mastoideus ossis parietalis | The posteroinferior point of the parietal bone. Synonym: angulus mastoideus ossis parietalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus occipitalis ossis parietalis | An angle formed by the junction, at the opisthion, of lines coming from the basion and from the projection in the median plane of the lower border of the orbits. See: Daubenton's line, Daubenton's plane. Synonym: angulus occipitalis ossis parietalis, occipital angle of parietal bone. (05 Mar 2000) |
