Generally classed as an herb. the stalks are candied and are used for flavoring and decorating sweets. The leaves can be used in the fresh state in salads, and a few finely chopped angelica leaves are a splendid addition to tomato salad.

an autosomal recessive syndrome characterized by jerky puppetlike movements, frequent laughter, mental and motor retardation, peculiar open-mouthed facies, and seizures. It can be caused by a deletion on chromosome 15 inherited from the mother; the same deletion inherited from the father causes Prader-Willi syndrome.
