| amplitude modulation |
A process whereby the amplitude (loudness) of a sound is varied over time. When varied slowly, a tremolo effect occurs. If the frequency of modulation is high, many side frequencies are created which can strongly alter the timbre of a sound.

| amplitude modulation |
A process that allows you to modify the amplitude (or level) of a sound using various other signal sources. This allows you to produce a range of tremolo or timbre modulation (wah-wah) type of effects. Also known as AM.

(AM) is a method of impressing data onto an alternating-current (AC) carrier waveform. The highest frequency of the modulating data is normally less than 10 percent of the carrier frequency. The instantanous amplitude (overall signal power) varies depending on the instantaneous amplitude of the modulating data.

means that the amplitude of a cycle varies over a longer cycle. For example, radio uses AM to transmit an audible sound of say 400 Hz by varying the amplitude of a radio signal with frequency 100,000 Hz.
