| succinate dehydrogenase (ubiquinone) |
[EC 1.3.5.1] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate, using ubiquinone as an electron acceptor. It occurs in mitochondria as a membrane-bound complex, an iron-containing flavoprotein (FAD) with an associated iron-sulfur protein. The reaction is part of the tricarboxylic acid cycle (see illustration at cycle).

| succinate-CoA ligase (GDP-forming) |
[EC 6.2.1.4] an enzyme of the ligase class that catalyzes the cleavage of succinate from succinyl CoA, using the energy so generated to form GTP from GDP. The reaction is part of the tricarboxylic acid cycle (see illustration at cycle). Called also succinyl CoA synthetase.
