A snap gage is a caliper type device that has been preset to a given dimension. Often made with two settings, one to admit acceptable parts, the other to reject out-of-tolerance parts. This general class is known as attribute gages and are frequently called "go and not-go" gages or "go/not-go" gages. They are also called "limit" gages. See also go/not-go gaging.
