amphetamine-related disorders Disorders related or resulting from use of amphetamines.
(12 Dec 1998)
angiotensin-related carboxypeptidase <enzyme> Rat and bovine brain synaptosomal enzyme can hydrolyze angiotensin I to des-leu angiotensin I, but no further
Registry number: EC 3.4.-
Synonym: angiotensin-specific carboxypeptidase
(26 Jun 1999)
calcitonin gene-related peptide <protein> A second product transcribed from the calcitonin gene. Calcitonin gene related peptide is found in a number of tissues including nervous tissue. It is a vasodilator that may participate in the cutaneous triple response.
It is a neuropeptide of 37 amino acids with structural homology to salmon calcitonin. Co-localises with substance P in neurons. It occurs as a result of alternative processing of mRNA from the calcitonin gene.
The neuropeptide is widely distributed in neural tissue of the brain, gut, perivascular nerves, and other tissue. The peptide produces multiple biological effects and has both circulatory and neurotransmitter modes of action. In particular, it is a potent endogenous vasodilator.
Intracerebral administration leads to a rise in noradrenergic sympathetic outflow, a rise in blood pressure and a fall in gastric secretion.
Acronym: CGRP
(05 May 2002)
MAK-related kinase <enzyme> A cdc2-related serine/threonine kinase; shows 87% idnetity to the male-germ cell associated kinase (mak); mw 66 kD; genbank d26178
Registry number: EC 2.7.10.-
Synonym: mrk kinase
(26 Jun 1999)
receptors, calcitonin gene-related peptide Cell surface proteins that bind calcitonin gene-related peptide (cgrp) with high affinity and trigger intracellular changes which influence the behaviour of cells. Cgrp receptors are present in both the central nervous system and the periphery and are not the same as calcitonin receptors.
(12 Dec 1998)
related 1. Allied by kindred; connected by blood or alliance, particularly by consanguinity; as, persons related in the first or second degree.
2. Standing in relation or connection; as, the electric and magnetic forcec are closely related.
3. Narrated; told.
4. Same as Relative.

(12 Dec 1998)
cocaine-related disorder <psychiatry> Disorders related or resulting from use of cocaine.
(12 Dec 1998)
movement-related pain <symptom> A type of breakthrough pain that is related to specific activity, such as eating, defecation, socialising or walking. Also referred to as incident pain.
(16 Dec 1997)
criterion-related validity The degree of effectiveness with which performance on a test or procedure predicts performance in a real-life situation; e.g., a good correlation between a score on an intelligence test such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test and one's 4-year college grade point average.
(05 Mar 2000)
