level - Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate - Erythrocytes are the red-cells in blood. When you get ill, proteins enter the blood and stick to red blood cells .When a blood sample is taken, doctors can calculate how long it takes for the red-blood cells to settle out; the heavier the blood cells, the more they can settle out in a given time. Thus an elevated ESR means that you are unwell, but it can't predict exactly what with.
