DDS Digital Data Service. A channel on a T-1 circuit that generally refers to 56 Kbps circuits offered by the telephone carriers. The DDS circuit is usually a nailed circuit between two sites-that is, a circuit that is established all the time. A variation on the DDS service is the Switched 56 circuit, which can dial among several sites. See circuit switching.
