| viscous |
Thick and resistant to flowing. Some lavas are rich in silicon, which makes them viscous. These lavas flow with resistance and make volcanic cones that can be very steep.

| viscous |
A measure of "stickiness" in a liquid, gel or emulsion, even hot molten rock and plastics. It represents a "resistance to flow". In lava, increasing the silicon content, increases viscosity, whereas adding water can decrease viscosity, while making lava more explosive.
