tuberous s. an autosomal dominant disease characterized principally by hamartomas of the brain (tubers), retina (phakomas), and viscera, with mental retardation, seizures, and adenoma sebaceum; there are often other skin lesions as well, including subungual fibromas, vitiliginous patches, shagreen patches, and café-au-lait spots. Called also Bourneville's disease and epiloia.
